I have recently stopped checking social media. I find it to be a distraction, especially when I’m writing, and not always the best for my mood and creativity. However, I still love to hear from readers, teachers, booksellers and librarians. (Note: If you are a company or individual selling services or using AI, I will not respond.) These days the very best way to reach me is by email. I especially enjoy hearing from young readers and do my best to respond as quickly as possible. Don’t be shy, your messages truly make my day!
Any press inquiries can be directed to me at this same email. Note I’m a journalist by training so welcome print reporters, radio reporters, podcasters and others in the media to reach out. I am also professionally interested in the topic of kids and reading, as well as writing instruction, and welcome educators to reach out to discuss or share their experiences.
I am not immune to a touching story or a good cause but I am often asked to make video greetings or mail mementos to individual schools and classes. While I’d love to do this for everyone, I am also working on my next books, visiting schools, and caring for my family and pets (a lot of them!). I have made videos for several of my books, which you can find on the individual book pages and are meant to be shared with students. If you are a student, I regretfully cannot help you with your school project or book report (or tell you what happens at the end of my book and, yes, I’ve been asked…). However, I welcome you to send me your work after it’s done. Over the years, I have enjoyed and been deeply touched by many book reports, presentations, drawings, letters and essays that kids have sent me about my books. Thank you!
